Recycled Solutions For Surface Water Management

The Torrent Water Management range of surface water drainage products are manufactured in the UK from waste destined for landfill. The mixture of plastic bottles and bags are pelletised then mixed with calcium carbonate to create a plastic mortar which is press moulded into the individual units. The composite mortar is 100% recycled and fully recyclable after use.

This unique composite material has good compressive and great flexural strength meaning the finished units perform equally as good in service as products made from more traditional, heavier materials. Due the lightweight composition a high proportion of the products come below manual handling creating a speed of installation unrivalled by heavier products and the lighter units give an advantage from a health and safety perspective. Lightweight units have the potential to reduce traffic management, reducing costs and speeding up the construction process.

The equivalent of over 500no plastic bottles or nearly 2000no plastic bags go into the manufacture of each Torrent surface drainage products.
